Roseville Pottery Co - Zanesville, OH 1890 - 1954
The company was founded in 1890 in Roseville, Ohio. The company began producing functional items such as Flower Pots, Stoneware, Umbrella Stands, Bird Baths and other novelties. In 1898, the company was moved to Zanesville, just 10 miles north. The production of "Art Pottery" did not begin until around 1900 and continued until 1954.
Roseville created numerous lines throughout their history. Most people, hearing the word Roseville, think of flowers and indeed the majority of their lines have a floral decoration but not all. A couple of their more successful lines were Donatello, introduced in 1916, and Pinecone, introduced in 1935. Both of these lines were in production for many years and neither one has a true floral motif.
Roseville's success is attributed to their commitment to producing quality items across a broad price range. Little did they know, their products were destined to be highly collectible.
