Freesia - Late Period - 1945
Roseville began production of matte glazed Freesia in 1945. There are approximately 47 different shapes. The line depicts Freesia blooms on a partially textured wave-like background of blue, brown or green. Those with a blue or green background are usually darker around the rim and base, whereas, those with a brown background are usually darker around the base only. Those pieces with a brown or blue background have Freesia blooms usually of ivory and pale yellow. Pieces with the green background will have ivory and lavender blooms.
Most of the forms have a flat smooth rim. The exceptions being the ewers, baskets and a few of the bowls.
This line typically has the raised (relief) "Roseville" script mark, which includes "U.S.A." and a form number - size.
More in-depth detail is available in any one of the books in the Bibliography.
